Antler Gets Reviewed in Recent Health Supplement Publications
Four of the leading publications in the health industry have
included velvet antler in recent publications.
HSR Health Supplement Retailer's March 200 issue contains an
article called A Deciphering Immune Function,= ability to
stimulate overall production of white blood cells.
In Vitamin Retailer Magazines=s February issue, Chris O'Brien's
article called A Joint Ventures: New Ingredients for Healthy
Joints,@ reviews natural products that not only relieve joint
pain but also help repair and rebuild damaged joints. One of the
promising products listed is velvet antler, with its high
concentration of insulin like growth factor I (IGF-I). O'Brien
states that IGF-I is said to help the bodies assimilation of
glycosminoglycans (GAGs), thereby stimulating bone, cartilage,
and connective tissue growth.
Vitamin Retailer again published an article including velvet
antler. This time it was the feature supplement in the
Supplement Spotlight section of the May 2000 issue. The
well-written article by Lisa Turner, includes What it is, the
history, where it comes from, what it is good for, how it works,
what the studies show, and how safe it is. This comprehensive
article contains everything you would want to know about velvet
antler. Included is a quotation from herbalist Michael Tierra,
L.Ac., O.M.D., who said he uses velvet antler for all conditions
associated with low metabolism. A deer antler is the premiere
yang energy tonic, AI use it for arthritis and rheumatic
conditions that are sensitive to seasonal cold, damp weather,
low energy, low sex drive, osteoporosis, hypothyroid and hyper
adrenal conditions.
In another publication, Nutrition Science News, published in New
York ran a feature story on velvet antler in their natural
remedies section of their March 2000 issue. The article written
by executive editor, Lisa Anne Marshall, is titled A Velvet
Antler Under the Microscope.=s article contains easy to
understand information on basic composition of velvet antler,
including the scientific substantiation.
The latest article on velvet antler can be found in Whole Foods
Magazine, May 2000 issue where Velvet Antler is listed on the
front cover of the magazine. The monthly feature Consumer Bulletin
spotlights Velvet Antler, A time-honored remedy with links to
numerous ailments and conditions. The consumer bulletin is a tear
out page used for retailers to copy and distribute to their
customers. Sited in the bulletin is information from the book
written by Dr. Betty Kamen, Ph.D. and Paul Kamen, The Remarkable
Healing Power of Velvet Antler. The bulletin includes the many
conditions for which velvet antler has been used including anemia,
arthritis, insomnia, amnesia, topical wounds, pain, muscle
development increased strength, increased endurance, capacity of
blood to carry oxygen, faster recuperation after surgery,
augmented levels of certain anabolic hormones, enhanced immune
activity and fertility.
With four articles published within three months time, the
supplement industry has evidently taken notice to velvet antler.
Velvet antler has a long history and is touted a product with a
broad range of benefits. This amazing multi-nutrient supplement
may be one of the newest products to enter North American
supplement market, but has been used for thousands of years in
cultures like Asia and Russia. Deer and elk antlers harvested on
farms have been supplying the export market for the past twenty
years. It is only recently that health conscious Americans are
understanding the values of velvet antler as a nutritional
supplement.
